About Parvati

PARVATI MARKUS has been “midwifing” spiritually-oriented non-fiction books and memoirs as a substantive editor since her first efforts with Ram Dass’s classic Be Here Now. Books she has edited have been published by Hay House, Inner Traditions, Simon & Schuster, Contemporary/McGraw Hill, Lotus Press, etc. As part of a collaborative creative team, she did all the editing and some writing for the three books and two guidebooks in the initiatory journey of The Box: Remembering the Gift. She has also helped with spiritual organizations (as past President of the Board of the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and Temple in Taos, NM) and events (as a development consultant for the Global Peace Initiative of Women Religious and Spiritual Leaders, held at the U.N. in Geneva, Switzerland).

Parvati has two sons and two granddaughters, and a cat who took up residence in her home in Florida the day of her biopsy.

  1. I’ve been following your progress and wish you well on your journey. I chose bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction instead of your route, so it is interesting to see your progress. You can see mine at Cancerchmancerpoopoopoo.wordpress.com. I wish you an easy weekend– next week I get to exchange my tissue expanders for what are affectionately called “squishes.”

    • I read your blog and was delightfully impressed, both by your journey and your words. If we Ashkenazis have been more at risk for this disease, at least we also have the gift of sharing through the written word… thank you for what you’ve brought to the table…
